Zac Posen Spring Summer 2012

Nice. Pretty.

Holy fuck. On the left we've got tit soup, in the middle it's the ghost of Carolina Herrera on the right, lumpy grey sad dress.

Mauled by dogs. It's a look now.

Remember when Zac Posen decamped to Paris because no one in New York ‘understood’ his clothes? Turns out the French didn’t either so Posen has decided to give America a second chance. I’m sure Sally Singer has sent Posen a heartfelt thank you letter. I just don’t get Posen’s collections. The show opened with some neat little skirt suits and they were pleasant enough which set the tone for the whole collection. Most everything was just nice enough. I feel like Posen is on auto-pilot which may be good for his regular clients but does he really need a runway show at fashion week? He’s more dressmaker than designer.

And So It Begins...NY Fashion Week Fall 2011. Z-Spoke by Zac Posen

Blood sucking hotties in search of fashion victims. Hotties. Lol

NY Fashion Week has begun. I'd say by tomorrow I'll be knee-deep in collections and come Saturday I will have drowned. There is just so much to look at these days.

It’s been a long time since Zac Posen has designed a collection that hits the mark and I often wonder why he’s been flailing for the past few seasons. It’s not like he’s some geriatric 5th Avenue designer who’s out of touch yet so many of his latest collections have felt that way. Did you see the debut of Z-spoke last season? It was a style grenade. When he moved his main line to Paris last season he said something to the effect that Americans don’t get his style. Yeah, that didn’t help coz it was like no, your clothes are just really shit.
So I was shocked and delighted to see his latest effort for fall. It’s like sexy business wear for young vampire professionals. There were no vomit prints, no excessive ruffles or any of that old Hollywood bullshit that he’s done so awfully in the past. It had whiffs (I say whiffs. He’s not a fucking genius) of Ford and Saint Laurent but was current and to the point like, say, Theyskens Theory or Esteban Cortazar for Exito.
This is a great start to fashion week.

Z-Spoke By Zac Posen

Zac Posen debuted his lower priced line Z-spoke. Half the price and twice the ugly. That’s harsh I know but the collection is dreadful.

He has now decided to show his main line in Paris because apparently Europeans ‘get’ his sensibility but I really don’t believe this will help.

Yes, he may carve a niche in Europe as the American in Paris but ughhh his clothes!!!! You know what it is? He’s not cool. When he first started out he got so much buzz because he was incredibly young-only 21-and he was doing highly sophisticated dresses. I feel like he’s run out of steam because he’s just not creating desirable clothes. They’re not cool or distinguishable from what’s already out there in a million stores.

To a point I agree that his work is better suited to the European market but he needs to work on what he’s designing instead of attributing a loss of business to Americans not liking or understanding what he creates. An ungly dress is an ugly dress in any market.

Take a look…
