Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2010 Review

Theatrics aside, there were a lot of short dresses in this collection. Perhaps too many. McQueen worked digitally printed silk to the hilt with woodsy colours, twisted animal faces, leaves and snakeskin on silk dresses, expertly cut, folded and draped. There was a morphing between human and amphibian with stingray heels that looked like deformed shark heads.
There were exaggerated drapes around the shoulders-a McQueen signature- and a folding sleeve on a gold dress was stunning. The leather pieces towards the end of the show looked like shark skin. The finale looks were completely alien, the models had prosthetics on their faces which looked cool. The show itself was amazing but McQueen has explored digital prints before and to much better effect.
